# Palimpsest World
> PROPOSED WORLD DOSSIER · GENRE ANTHOLOGY
> Hot-pink material is a new scenario for author review, not an established transmission. The closing aftermath is a proposed narrative coda, not information Ned receives after leaving.
## I. World Summary
A public record can alter a citizen’s recognized appearance and biography when enough readers accept it. Obituary writer Eri earns a living correcting other people’s histories. She discovers a beautifully written account of her own death signed with her name.
### Geographic Coordinates
Not assigned. The encounter location is described in the summary; no latitude or longitude is established.
### Temporal Coordinates
Not assigned. World numbering is a catalogue order, not a confirmed itinerary.
## II. World Divergence
The record changes shared recognition, not the past itself. People gradually stop recognizing the person who contradicts it. Eri can remain physically alive while losing her home, wages, and the people permitted to believe her.
## III. Event
### Interdimensional Transit — Arrival
Ned wakes in a newsroom and mistakes Eri for the subject of a memorial photograph. Because he has not read the local records, he can still see her face without the imposed caption.
### Event
The Woman in the Correction
Eri asks Ned to publish a correction. Each authoritative sentence makes her look more like its idealized description. Searching her old columns, he finds the same language used to erase inconvenient witnesses. She did not write her obituary, but built the method now consuming her. Proving she is a victim would not make that disappear.
They print her unedited testimony, including her role in those earlier corrections and the records of people who disputed them. Readers argue instead of converging on a single version. Her face stops changing, though it does not return exactly. A survivor identifies her at the press and refuses the apology she has prepared.
### Interdimensional Transit — Departure
Ned falls asleep beside the press. Afterwards Eri prints contradictory recollections together and submits her archive to the people she harmed. She has regained a name to answer to, not an acquittal. The first demand delivered to her new address is for a correction she cannot write alone.
