# Carnival World
> PROPOSED WORLD DOSSIER · GENRE ANTHOLOGY
> Hot-pink material is a new scenario for author review, not an established transmission. The closing aftermath is a proposed narrative coda, not information Ned receives after leaving.
## I. World Summary
A rented mask gives its wearer the form printed on it until the rental bell rings. Nessa runs a failing costume stall and guarantees that nobody will recognize the customer beneath. The mayor is her best client: he rents harmless animals to hear what people really think of him.
### Geographic Coordinates
Not assigned. The encounter location is described in the summary; no latitude or longitude is established.
### Temporal Coordinates
Not assigned. World numbering is a catalogue order, not a confirmed itinerary.
## II. World Divergence
The masks change bodies, not character, and a wearer must personally return the token to end a rental early. Nessa cannot remove a mask for someone else. Her business depends on anonymity, including for clients whose secrets would make her rich.
## III. Event
### Interdimensional Transit — Arrival
Ned wakes in the stall wearing a delivery label. Nessa assumes he is a hired assistant and tells him to keep the small horse away from the ceremonial flowers.
### Event
The Mayor Is a Very Small Horse
Ned feeds the horse its own brass token, mistaking it for a prop apple. The mayor misses his speech. Nessa and Ned spend the parade trying to persuade him to cooperate with increasingly undignified recovery plans while his deputy praises the absent mayor’s personal dignity.
Nessa could reveal him and save her reputation. Instead she announces the horse as an emergency guest of honor and lets it kick over the ribbon. The rental bell finally rings halfway through the mayor accepting a sugar cube. Everyone sees, including his deputy.
### Interdimensional Transit — Departure
Ned falls asleep in the costume cart. Afterwards Nessa advertises discretion, never dignity. The mayor renews her stall permit but refuses to discuss why children now offer him carrots. His deputy gives the next speech.
