# Carbon World
> PROPOSED WORLD DOSSIER · GENRE ANTHOLOGY
> Hot-pink material is a new scenario for author review, not an established transmission. The closing aftermath is a proposed narrative coda, not information Ned receives after leaving.
## I. World Summary
Workers can make one temporary cognitive copy to cover a second shift. Copies are housed in rented synthetic bodies and erased at clock-out. Cleaner Iona has quietly kept her copy alive for six months. The two have begun to dislike each other.
### Geographic Coordinates
Not assigned. The encounter location is described in the summary; no latitude or longitude is established.
### Temporal Coordinates
Not assigned. World numbering is a catalogue order, not a confirmed itinerary.
## II. World Divergence
Copying starts from shared memory; subsequent experience does not merge automatically. Only the registered original receives wages and a legal name. Iona’s copy wants a separate life, not a longer extension of the shift.
## III. Event
### Interdimensional Transit — Arrival
Ned wakes in a service corridor and helps the apparent cleaner open an emergency exit. The copy uses it to leave work for the first time. Iona arrives furious at both of them.
### Event
Two People at the End of a Shift
Iona asks Ned to bring the copy back before the body’s rental tracker triggers repossession. The copy agrees to return only to collect her earned wages. Ned holds a charging cable across a public counter while they argue; passersby assume it is a technical fault. Iona finally transfers half her savings and signs that the missing body was taken with her permission, making herself responsible for its cost.
### Interdimensional Transit — Departure
Ned falls asleep in the charging alcove. The proposed coda finds two cleaners applying for separate jobs under different names. Neither can afford the old flat alone. They remain roommates for now, and start knocking before entering each other’s rooms.
